Lists of registered voters, 1868- .

The Board of Registrars is required to provide the probate judge with a certified alphabetical list of voters registered by precincts, districts, or other subdivisions. The probate judge is responsible for publishing the list in a local newspaper twenty days prior to the election (see Ala. Code, 17-4-129 [1975]). Information is varied but usually includes voter name and address, voting subdivision and, in earlier versions, age or date of birth and race. This record began in 1868 and continues to the present.
